Every four weeks is hoof trim day at Frogpond and yesterday Raleigh and her helper, Sadie, came to give pedicures to Cornelius and Sarah. As you can see, Corny's loving all the attention.
I'm also very happy to say that Stripe has been taking her babies up to the barn to sleep every single night so far. She comes up as the sun is going down and we make sure that the little family has fresh food and water waiting for them. In the morning, we open up the barn door and off she marches back down to the pond with her little ones in a bouncy line behind her. Ain't life grand when things go right all by themselves?
Ok, so there was a tiny problem one night when Granny Goose decided that she wanted to stay up in the barn with her grand-ducklings. She got that stubborn look on her face and flat-out refused to leave.
It took some of gentle but persistent persuasion from me behind her with a broom to finally get her out of there and back down to the pond. Leave it to a goose to spice things up a bit.
