Our life in the foothills of Calaveras County, California. The pond is at the center of everything. In case we should forget, the bullfrogs yell it out all summer long. A noisy place, but home.

My Freckle-Nosed Boy
Max: our burly young peasant of a cat
Who, but a complete worm, would not be smitten by an orange cat with freckles dotting his broad pink nose?
Max is lovely,he does not look like a peasant cat to me,he has a rather superior expression in this photo.!! I like cats and used to have one,a grey long haired cat called smoky. One day he jumped of the roof of the Castle, thankfully he survived with only a bruised paw, when he eventually died I could not bring myself to replace him. There are several feral cats in the area,I do leave food out for them, but they will not let me get close enough to pet them.
Your story of Smoky jumping off the roof of the Castle sounds like it could be turned into a lovely children's story. I'm glad he was OK -- thank goodness cats come equipped with 9 lives!
